Legends – Treasured cultural assets
Myths and legends are part of ancient folklore and are a precious part of our heritage. Comprising of the mysterious, the mystical and the inexplicable, they fascinate and are beloved by children and adults alike. This fascination was perhaps even greater in the days before electricity where stories were told in the dim glow of oil lamps.
Even today, the telling of stories, fairytales and legends still thrills audiences, thanks to the charisma of the storyteller and the experience of a live performance. The large turnout at the annual Triesenberg Legends Festival in the spring is a clear testament to this, and the Walser Legends Trail breathes new life to these time-honoured stories. At various stops along the route, a selection of legends from a rich treasure trove of stories is shared. The themed trail is designed to inspire deeper exploration of the local folklore.
